    FS: '66 911 in So Cal - $20K

The car looks rough and the seller provides no VIN or engine number but states that the numbers match so this may be an opportunity for someone with the time, energy, and resources for a project.

    Could we ask

Please double check the VIN. From prior research, we thought the last '66 was 304949. Thanks much!

PS A close up pic of the two VINs up front would be wonderful.

Nothing all that interesting except to we numbers geeks: 1967 chassis start at 305101 which happens to be an S, so 305101S. Up until recently, Porsche published numbers, therefore, said (implied) the last '66 year model was 305100. However, research by "my source in the Alps," indicated the last '66 from looking at actual Kardex was 304949. However, if the subject car is 304955, the 949 number is clearly in error. So, please show us some proof! If the number is correct it certainly is one of the last 1966 year models. Thanks.

This is not a good photo for purposes of proof, but it does seem to show 304955 and the paint code. Should I demand better pictures of all the VIN locations?

    Hi Dave,

You're right, more we be nice. Under normal circumstances I'd think it OK but the 555 does look a little unusual. No? Thanks. Oh, btw, I've contacted my "source in the Alps" and requested a double check.

It is certainly one of the last 1966 year models. Not mine, just to clarify
