Weber carburettors were rebuilt and new fuel lines installed,
Motor had sat in car for 30 years. Before turning over I filled each cylinder with Marvel Mystery Oil and let it soak in for a week. I then added a pint of Marvel to the case and turned it over first by hand and then with the starter while the coil was unplugged for a couple of minutes. I gapped the plugs, set the points and scrapped and filed the contact metal on the cap and rotor, drained the oil and refilled with Mobil One and a new filter, attached the coil, put some gas in the carbs and it fired right up but ran very roughly. I had the carbs rebuilt and new fuel lines and got a new fuel pump. Also boiled the tank and had it coated and blew out the fuel lines, put in new plugs and it ran very well. Starts right up, idles smoothly, falls apart over 4,000 RPM, I think it's a fuel starvation issue. I was going to build a short stroke twin plug 2.5 but instead found a 3.6 SC that I am switching the engine. Transmission, suspension, instruments and some other goodies over to the 67N. The engine and transmission are dirty, dusty and ugly. The transmission is still attached to it along with the starter and solenoid. The 901 transmission shifts smoothly into all 5 gears and reverse. Complete with shift coupler, tube and gear shift stick. Had a leak down test performed after the engine was removed. #1 is not good, the rest are not bad. I understand the leaks were detected through the exhaust and carbs so that indicates valves. Could be carbon or pitting from sitting for so long. This engine has the 66MM crank which is very difficult to find and the 2.0 Sand Cast cases are the strongest and most desirous for building race engines. I would prefer to sell it whole to someone who can pick it up but can break the transmission off and strap and wrap it to two pallets for shipping. It's at a shop and is available to inspect or pick-up during normal business hours by appointment. Leak down results are taped to Air Cleaner in one of the pictures. I have some threads of my project including the history here: http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ad.php?t=27281
