70 Targa interior dome light problem

I have purchased a new dome light since I found the existing to be broken and shorted out, blowing the fuse.

I replaced the fuse and the clock now works as it is on the same system.

Now, I'm having a problem wiring the replacement light. There are two wires, one tests with 12.5 volts and the other tests as a ground. The light has 3 spades for wire attachment. One connects directly to the light frame, likely for chassis grounding. One attaches to one end of the bulb holder. One attaches to what appears to be the switch mechanism.

The bulb check out fine, but when installed in the fixture and the two wires attached, as I believe they should be (power lead to fixed end of bulb and ground lead attached to the switch mechanism) I get no light.

Can someone describe the correct wiring?

The black wire (12,5V) connects to the end of the bulb holder. Brown wire (ground) connects to the switch mechanism. When you fit the lamp assembly into the targa bar, make sure the frame of the lamp touches the metal of the cut out to establish a ground connection to the frame. Then the lamp will work as intended.
