The thought of taking a short-wheel base 911 S and turning it into a racecar would make some purists cringe. However, finding a 911 with race history in its blood from day one is something very special and rare.

42 years later, this 911 S racecar has survived with very little incident or issues. It has had a great history going back to its first owner: Joe Vittone, the president and CEO of Empi (a famous VW/Porsche after market products company). Joe purchased this 911 new in ’67 and used it to help market some of his aluminum pistons and cylinders. In 1969, as a performance marketing promotion, Bob Bondurant was asked to put the car through its paces at Riverside Raceway. Bondurant was so impressed not only with the cars performance, but also with it’s bright tangerine color, that he adopted tangerine for his driving school cars. This occasion was documented in the February 1969 issue of Sports Car Graphic.

The second owner was an oil businessman and Porsche lover who cared for the car as a streetcar until 1995. This is when the current owner purchased the car and started to fulfill his vintage racing interests. What started as a three-month project took well over a year and as you can imagine, tens of thousands of dollars. However, all the money and time paid off with Vara CP class championships in 1998 and 2001.

All in all, this 911 has be featured in 2 issues of Excellence Magazine including the cover in 2002 as well as the cover for the Early S magazine called Esses.

In 2005, the owner spent over $12,000 freshening up the engine and gearbox. He was then out of racing until 2006. He did a couple of events between 2006-2007 and the car has been in storage since then.

This is a turn-key Porsche racecar that is ready to be enjoyed. It is fresh, all set up, and a proven winner.

This Porsche comes with its original steel doors, hood, decklid, and original door windows.

You say this car has front and rear S brakes- do you mean "S" Aluminum calipers front and rear or do you mean the factory spec brakes for a 911S- Aluminum front, Steel rear?

    Nice Car.

Recently we drove the car around the block...what a blast. We really think that this could be converted to a very cool R Gruppe weekend toy.

From the 911S eBay sales history thread...

BIN of US $59,990.00 offered on Aug 22, 2011 with no takers (offers of US $30,000.00 and US $35,000.00 declined)

Search the VIN for more info...one would think that a deal would be struck some time soon on this car.
