George, know exactly how you feel. I've had mine for just over 18 months having driven over 2000 miles and still not close to getting used to it. Having driven manuals with the standard 1-up shift pattern, it takes much effort to overcome a lifetime of muscle memory.
BTW, drove my first Porsche 356 yesterday and was pleasantly surprised how easy they are to drive. The hunt now starts...
Congratulations, George!
Perfect time of year in your neck of the woods to get out and enjoy your long awaited prize.
George
Very momentous....!
Your styled for the drive , am sure you will be hard to get out of that seat.
Great Project and congrats to you and your team/vendors.
See you at PCA Parade next year

The car looks fabulous, George. Congratulations on getting to the other side—the fun side—of its restoration, and best wishes for the miles ahead!
Thanks guys for the nice words. This community of enthusiasts is THE BEST !! Well, today Susan and I took the car out for its longest day of driving. Close to 100 miles to the Tennessee/North Carolina border area. Credit Susan, the photographer.

Mr Laws fixed the back up light issue with cleaning the switch on the trans and replacing the bar that engages the switch. Very precise type work. The spare tire fits over the 100L tank and we placed the infamous FIA Group 2 Saloon Car “rear seat extenders”. Seems early ‘71 cars had this included for Porsche’s attempt to homologate for this class.

Also placed a new fire extinguisher on the roll hoop.

After the drive, I gave her a bath. I used Zep-o-Shine wash and P21S on the wheels. The Zep is a wash like none I have used in the past. Much thicker and feels like your are using moisturizer !! Maybe I needed to use more water but felt great going on. And the P21S really cleaned the wheels. I know that we have to be careful in what products we use on the wheels. I did not want to take chances !!
