Has anyone seen this car in person? Knows anything about it? Looks a bit pricey, any comments, anything appear out of place from the photos?

I agree with Craig. The Soft Window Targas, particularly the S's, are rapidly becoming true collector cars. And the collectors want matching numbers.

They must have gotten some negative feedback about their initial ad.They had it listed as a matching numbers car.They changed it to a less than forthright description.Tell it like it is and say non-matching motor,please!Doesn`t do much for the perception of this dealer as to accurate descriptions.

I PAINTED THE CAR AND PUT THE REPO SPORT SEATS IT,WHEN I HAD IT,IT HAD A '68 S motor in it,the next owner put a '67S MOTOR IN IT,MILAGE IS NOT CORRECT;IT WAS EVELYN DREW'S CAR,do a search on her there is a lot of info

After I got this car from Frank I replaced the '68S motor w/ a completely rebuilt (even new P&C's) '67S motor that is only 50-60 serial number digits from the original, crowned it w/ correct IDS webers, replaced all the shift linkage bushings, adjusted and aligned everything while doing other small details. It does drive as nice as the current owner states in his ad. If those aftermarket sport seats bother you, I still have the original non-sport seats Frank removed from the car sitting in the warehouse.


Save 30-40% for the motor being 50 digits off? To me that's crazy. Lesser cars have sold for tens of thousands more. I just think it's still available due to poor and inaccurate description/marketing and nothing to do with current economic conditions. This is a good car w/ documented history.

My remarks were directed to the dealers ad.They in no way reflect my opinion of the car.I wish it were in my garage---but with the correct engine.

I have a few of these cars and I am in the process of restoring 2 as I speak. I saw this car @ Ventura a month ago. This car is really nice and the restoration was done very-very well. I don't know this "dealer" but I think I can look at a SWT and see that the pieces all came together nicely.

As for the Non-matching motor...who gives a rats ass !! A 2.0L "S" motor,
# 201 is the same as #402. What matters is that the buyer gets the exact same thrill of driving this car in 2009 as did the original owner in 1967.

Motors are friggen motors. BTW...who here on this BBS knows for "fact" that Porsche's philosophy then wasn't the same as now. When an engine goes bad they might of just sent a new motor in the box. Did anyone ask Vasak P that question before he passed ?? Does anyone here on this board know for "fact" that this never happened ?
