    H1 bulb question

    H1 uses 2 halogen bulbs, there is a 55W version and a 100W
what correct bulbs should be used?
is one for high beam(100W)? or just brighter?
or low beam 55W and 100W high?
I found both types in both locations (100/100)
    thanks

Usually they used 55/55W Lo/Hi, but when people wanted more the replaced with 100W. You should however install relays when going to 100W. Gordon

    100W bulb

What is the downside of using a 100W bulb without a relay?

The sockets need to be changed out too if going to 100W bulbs. THe existing sockets were not intended to handle that much current.

Something else I thought of yesterday....

The original H1 rating was 55W/55W so, the wiring on the light itself from the plug to the bulbs will reflect that (with margin of course).

Before considering 100W bulbs (almost twice the current) I would determine the wire gauge on the buckets and consider upgrading that wiring if I determined I was close to the limit.

I'm not to that point yet on my car but, since my thought of using 55W/100W on my H1s this is what I plan to do before implementing any changes.
