It is really expensive to build a nice RS clone. Too often, people try to build a nice one and realize that it costs far more than they expected. Yes, there are a bunch of them out there on the market, but most of them are really not that great. This car is the exception. Why spend over $50-$60k to build a car when you can get something for pennies on the dollar that is ready to be enjoyed today!
I helped the current owner find this car about 2-3 years ago. It was sort of a project/incomplete RS conversion. It had a very nice and strong 3.2 Carrera motor, but lots of details were left undone. I tried to convince the owner to buy a done car, but he chose this route instead. So, after spending another $35,000 (not including the cost of the car), he had a nice example that was fun to drive on local R Gruppe events as well as being very reliable. Plus, with the 3.2 Carrera motor, it has lots of usable power.
Basically, everything on this car has been sorted out. Repairs include the following:
Repair front pan (no rust on the car)
Complete new suspension (shocks, sway bars and links, bushings, tie rods, wheel bearings, axles, aligned and corner balanced)
Rebuilt transmission with new clutch
Complete new interior (GTS seats, carpet kit, door panels, restored gauges, ST rollbar/harness bar, hidden stereo/ipod, shifter, rebuilt pedal assembly)
Engine has been compression tested (152,148,155,155,155,152) as well as sorted (new fuel pump, dme chip, fresh service, new fuel lines)
SC Brakes that have been rebuilt.
These items were just the major items. We have pages of receipts of lots of little details that were taken care of on this car. This is basically a very nice turnkey RS that is ready to take to your next Porsche event. Nothing has been overlooked.
There is some very small paint cracks by the left rear bumperette (see picture). Also, there are normal small rock chips on the front end from driving. The tires are close to needing replacement as well. The wheels are 7x16 and 8x16 with 225/45 tires on the front and 245/45 tires on the rear. It gives the car a nice look with extra grip.
The Fitapaldi steering wheel is not included with the car. We will provide a new Momo Prototipo wheel (silver or black) with the purchase.
