    Help in SW Florida

I have a elderly Porsche buddy in Punta Gorda Florida that needs help.

He's owned a 69 or 70 911T since it was new and can't find anyone in the area to work on the car.
This guy has been taken advantage of many times over the years.

The service manager at the Porsche Dealership in Naples Florida says he can't work on his car since his mechanics only work on later models.

Can anybody recommend a good guy in the area?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Joe

They only know how to change parts. A dealer is the LAST place you want to go.

Find a shop where the mechanic has dirt under his nails and is over 50 years
old. He will have "been there- done that".

The new cars are so complicated that you don't repair things. You replace them and that is why your friend cannot find anyone to work on it at a dealer. Old school mechanics are a dying breed. The youngsters only know how to replace parts. I'll bet money that nobody can adjust valves either.

From an economic standpoint it's actually silly to rebuild a Boxster or Cayman engine. You can buy a new one in the box (no pun intended) with a warranty and replace the entire assembly. I'd say the same holds true for any later 911 variant.

I'd run this by Rick2. He's in Orlando but has a pretty good handle on
    "who's who" in FL.

    Good luck,

    Tom

Contact Jess Yarger in Ft Myers. He bought my 72 T a couple of years back and has done wonders with it. He is retired but works part time at the Collier museum in Naples.............I feel reasonably sure that he can direct you to someone reputable and honest.
