    Backup light switch

I need to replace my switch. Will removal result in transmission fluid loss?
    Thanks.

No it wont. The pin that actuates the switch wears out also so consider that a possible cause of failure. The pins for 901 boxes are NLA

Before spending $70 for the switch like I did last month before I discovered it was a pin problem, check your existing switch. Remove the two wires from the switch, remove the switch, remove the pin from the transmission, reattach the two wires to the switch, put the car in reverse, turn on the ignition switch, and press one end of the pin into the switch to activate it and have someone tell you if the backup lights illuminate. Mine did, so I knew the switch was OK. I figured the the pin was worn on the transmission end and I was able to get another pin which corrected my problem of having no backup lights. I can't find the invoice and I don't remember who I ordered the pin from. You may have a small amount of transmission fluid seep out if you leave the switch out with the rear end jacked up.

Testing is MUCH easier with a volt ohm meter. The problem could be bulbs or wiring and you need to be able to test them. Find one with audible continuity tester. I got mine for about $5 at Harbor Freight.
