RS Speedo & Tacho Installed

After a year off the road and a complete rebuild of the brakes, suspension and steering, and not to mention the transplant of the 2.7 Carrera engine, I thought I should get some original period correct guages to match.

So thanks, to JPlonghood here on the Register, I acquired an original 5/73 date stamped Carrera RS 180mph speedo (911.641.506.00) and 'S' 7,200 rpm tacho (911,641.303.01). I removed the speedo glass and trim to give it a good polish on the inside :-)

Freshly installed today and in full working order - note you have to remove the steering wheel and shroud to remove the tacho :-(

Now just awaiting the delivery of the Southbound 73RS door panels to complete the RS look.

Now that you are in there, it is not so difficult to hand sand the bezels and shoot them with a good quality trim satin and reinstall them for all the gauges. This took me less than a few hours a night and in a week the gauges were satisfactory and consistent.
