Period correct Talbot side mirror for a 69

    Hi All -

I'm looking to swap out my mirror for a talbot at some point and wanted to start the research/looking now. Need some help determining which model was period correct back in 69. There was a set listed on this board and my initial search shows a few models to choose from. There are also a few on ebay that I saw.

Should I be looking for a green dot version or a stamped version with a "T" in the center of the logo? Also I see there are two different lengths - short and long. What are the benefits if any?

    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the links. Looks like the 300 Sr model is the way to go.

For those of you that do have a Talbot mirror - which size do you have? Senior 4" or Junior 3.5" - I'm feeling the senior might be too big for our small cars.

    Thoughts?

Junior on my `68, I feel the senior is too big. Mounted at the top of the door in the same place as the original Durrant, I actually have a view of the rear now.

I've got a green dot Sr. on my '67. The original paper work shows that it was a dealer installed option when new for $10.00....hard to believe.

I believe Gary Schultz's white '67S 'the white car' shown in the latest issue of ESSES mag shows a green dot Sr. mounted on the door....same spot as mine.

Junior. I agree about the scale of the junior being better for a 911. It is pretty small, though, if you are dicing in LA freeway trafic or something. It's fine for what i do. I have to adjust it all the way in to enable me to see the side of the car in the mirror view. I wish it could be adjusted a little more.

These mirrors are wonderful designs. When I got mine, I couldn't belive how compact, efficient, simple, and light all of the pieces were. Someone got this thing right.

Interesting, I was under the impression green dots did not hit the market until the early 70's.

You are correct. The mirror essentially stayed the same. Just the logo difference from the earlier stamped versions to the green plastic dot.

Probable that the original mirror was removed along the way and at some point another one was installed to try and conform to the original documentation.
