    -> 205x60 on 15 inch Fuchs on a '65 ??

    Greetings.

    .....I've searched here and can't seem to come up with an answer.

    Question for the experts:

    Can a bog standard, original coachwork 1965 911 wear mid 1970's 15 x 6 inch Fuchs (not deep 6's) with 205/60 tyres on the front and 215/60 tyres on the rear- UNMODIFIED ??

    i.e. can I just bolt them on in place of the 5.5 chrome steelies I have on it now?? I found a nice cheap set locally and feel like a boy racer change for a while.

    Dumb question I know, but I don't want to shag around with tyres....and I figured I'll get the requisite admonishment here !

    Cheers + thanks in advance

    SK

    Probably not... 205/60's are not a problem all the way around, but anything bigger is "generally" going to be problematic unless you dial in a lot of rear camber, roll or shave your fender lips. I've got 225/50's on the rear but the fender lips are rolled, and I've got a fair amount of camber dialed in.

    The E's Agree. I had that combo on my 71 and it was fine HOWEVER; you may have issues in the rear on a 65... other should weigh in with a definative.

    I have run 205X50-15 on 7" rims without a problem and 205X60-15 on 6" rims.

    Here's a Photo

    205/60's with 15 X 6 Fuchs on a on a SWB Coupe.

    Fitting was not simple. On the front the dust shields are removed and there is interference between the tire and the wheel well at full lock. On the rear the dust shields are removed, '68 wheel spacers are installed and a lot (2.2 degrees at least) of negative camber is dialed in. Also as a race car I have very little suspension travel. The problem areas in the rear are tire to shock, outside of tire to inner fender (about 3" above from the lip where the fender curves toward horizontal), and inner tire wall to spring plate (the caster or camber eccentric bolt head is positioned perfectly to slice the sidewall). And both front and rear fender lips are trimmed.

    It also makes a big difference what brand and model tire you propose. For example 205/60 15 Yokohama A048 tires are an inch larger in diameter than 205/60 Hoosier Speedsters.

    Try them. I think you'll be surprised. They will probably fit. I run these on my '67S (6x15 Fuchs with 205/60-15's) without any special camber settings.

    I've run the Deep Six and 205/60-15 combo on all my short wheelbase cars without issue.

    Just for clarity....I don't think the 215/60's will fit on the rear....
