Austin TX New Years Fun Run

Its time for another New Years Run. Please reserve your calender's for Saturday, January 2, 2010 for a fun run to kick off the new year.

The route is still in the planning stage. Expect a minimum 200 mile loop. We will pick a convenient starting point once we finalize the route and directions. Feel free to pass this information to anyone willing to arrive with a smile and ready to have a good time behind the wheel. Chances are that we will find some good roads, good times and hopefully some good food. We will meet early and drive West-ish for some lunch then return. If anyone has any suggested destinations or points of interest please let me know.

I will post more information later in the week with respect to the meeting time and location. Hope to see some of y'all there.

Alan, I will probably have the targa. The ST is currently without seats as they are getting some "updates" from Stefan.

Time to hit the road on Saturday. It appears that the weather will be better than it was today. Should be a great day to go for a drive. Let's plan to meet a 8am at the Starbucks on the corner of Brodie Ln and the Eastbound 290 service road in S. Austin. This is one block East of WalMart (Behind Wendy's). Let's plan to drive at 8:30 to avoid traffic.

We will head West and then loop up to Burnet via some fun backroads. We will be driving some different roads so be aware that en route changes may occur. We can grab a bite to eat in Burnet.

We started with almost 14 cars. The newest was 1974. This was not by design, just the nature of who was available on this particular day. We were also joined by a member of the local Alfa club! Thanks for coming out to support our drive. We could use a bit more Italian style.

The route left SW Austin heading W and then looped up to the North. We stopped for nourishment in Burnet, TX. I was route master and we definitely found some new roads to add to the "must drive" list.

The weather topped near 60 and was perfect for top down driving after feeling too enclosed by the 30 deg requirements for a top. Here are a few pics to support the smiles. We had empty roads and lots of curves. Lots of segments that took concentration to keep your foot in it.

I had lots of fun. Hope to see more of you next year.
