'73 Daytona RSR - Number Roundel Light

I'm currently building a Tribute to the '73 Penske Sunoco RSR. One of the items I've had a tough time tracking down any info on - is the single driver's side door number illumination light. The Brumos and Penske cars had these lights. I found early BMW 2002 License plate lights to be close, but the profile is pretty different from what's pictured in the period photos. Anyone have any information, or ideas on these? I would think that they are a Hella unit - probably license plate lights.
    Thanks,
    Sam Gassel

Do you have a sharper picture? I think I have a light some where that has the similar shape. I hope it's hella but I am afraid it's English ..

'73 Daytona RSR - Number Roundel Light

    Richard,
This is the best photo I can find. Shows a bit better view of the profile on the Brumos Car. Maybe it wasn't a Hella unit.

Between the two of you you have all the information in your two posts, just needed a little more to act on.

The factory used the German made Hella chromed plastic BMW license plate lights on their RSRs, as shown in the first three photos I've attached. I just got mine from my good friend Jim B. at EASY for US $ 36.95 ea. The third photo is of the box they arrived in and gives you all the ordering information.

The lights on the Penske machines indeed look like the universal English made light ( MG license plate ) which is available through Holden in the UK (www.holden.co.uk). I've taken the liberty of posting a shot ( #4) I just took of the relevant page in their catalogue. Prices: Lights.....24.26 British Pounds each, Plinths ( Handed ) 16.13 BP ea.

    You're welcome, Good Luck

correct, but not only did the BMW 02 use them, a variaty of 50cc mopeds in built germany used them. Kreidler for example was one of them. Vasek Polak used them as well. but 24 pounds is pretty expensive, i usually pick them up for 14 euros.

unrelated question; but are those Pallas in the bumper? Used as fogs?
