12AN to front oil cooler why not when

the internal oil tank feed line to filter console is 15mm, the factory thermostat line ID is 15mm and the ID of AN12 fitting is 15mm. Parts measured were pre 72. Various posts stress AN12 a no no go 16. What am I missing?

I have no problem with the theory that all men are created equal.
But after that moment you are on your own and nobody owes you a damn thing.

People think that the smaller fittings are too restrictive... here are my findings...

In my track car (77 with high comp 2.7 RS engine), i only has the trombone cooler at first. It was running way too hot - 2 or 3 hot laps and the gauge was reading 250+.

I cut the trombone cooler and ran some lines up to a factory RX7 cooler. I did not modify the inlet or outlet fittings, nor did I remove the internal pressure relief valve inside the cooler.

Here are the results (photos taken at the track after several hot laps):

It worked fine and the whole setup cost less than $100. The temp gauge has not gone above the 9:00 mark since making this mod.

I typed up a long winded reply with pics that has disappeared... I'm going to give you the quick version...

There is a lot of misinformation out there about sizing for oil lines / oil coolers. The link to the Burd site shows my findings...
