Availability of RS rear bumper corners?

I've got a set of factory RS quarters that if I stitch them onto my 73T, I'd like to use correct RS steel bumper corners.

are these as rare as hen's teeth? general price? repros available? weld up your own?

what are my options? I'd prefer not to use a one-piece glass bumper. no rush on getting this done, probably a winter 2010 project.

on a separate note, what are your thoughts these days on "permanent" modifications to early cars?

You can still buy them new from Porsche. I have a few new sets here for RSs we have in for restoration in case a pic may help.

Yeah, pretty sure you can still get them from the dealer here in the US.
Something in the range of $1200-1400 for the pair.

Used to be you could get the pieces to weld on to the stock bumpers with the correct curve, etc. Not sure if they are available anymore.
A very good bodyshop or do-it-yourselfer could probably replicate the sweep needed to match up with the RS flare profile as well.
As far as I know, reproductions do not exist.

I just removed a perfect set of factory RS touring bumpers off my car.
If Dave at TRE Motorsports hasn't sold them yet, I'm sure you can work out a deal with him for obtaining them.
