    Replacing Ignition Switch

I plan to replace my ignition switch, and have a question.

Do the two fasteners (10 o'clock and 4 o'clock positions in the picture) need to be removed in order to remove the switch? If yes, how is this done?

Yep, they sure do. Those are anti-theft breakaway screw heads so the bad guys couldn't easily remove the ignition switch to steal the car. Guess they never saw "The Fast and The Furious" I use a small flat chisel and small ball pein hammer to catch an edge and then get the screw turning. They're not usually very tight, shouldn't take much. You can buy new 'breakaway'
screws, or just use a standard phillips head screw. The 'bad guys' really don't care

Frank, I personally recommend drilling a hole in the center of those tamper proof break-away bolts and then utilize (hammer into the hole) an EZ out to remove them. We just completed a detailed article for Excellence magazine on this subject. Good luck, TCallas

Bingo! Although, I tend to replace them with allens. Pick your poison.

Being quite the purist, I recommend that you retain the tamper proof break-away type bolts that Porsche originally installed.
