    FS: Early Project Car VIN 303066

    Came across this car advertised - no affiliation just passing it along.

    Interesting project claimed to be basically rust-free with nice chrome and complete but assembly required.

    He indicated he'd like to recover his investment (and garage space) so the price would be about $15k - seems reasonable if it's complete with minimal rust.

    Dealer Description:

    * Built in 1965
    * Original, numbers matching engine and transmission
    * Comprehensive, award winning 5-year bare metal restoration
    * Documented with COA and Kardex

    This stunning 911 was completed at Stuttgart on December 6th, 1965. The car left the factory wearing code 6605 Bahama Yellow paint over a black leatherette interior. The car was nicely optioned with a Webasto Gasoline heater, Becker "Europa" radio, loudspeaker, and antenna. In 1990, the car was disassembled in preparation for a complete restoration, however, the car would wind up sitting disassembled in dry storage until 2010 when the current owner purchased the car. Over the next five years, the 911 would undergo a complete, suspension off, bare metal restoration.

    Restoration details include a full rebuild of the original, numbers matching engine, including carburetors and powder coated sheet metal. A high torque starter has been added with separate starter relay; heat exchangers are stainless steel. The car starts cold typically on the first turn of the key with its original ignition with a new coil, new electric fuel pump, and rebuilt and re-curved distributor for today's gasoline. The original, numbers matching 5-speed transmission has been rebuilt with a new clutch, pressure plate, bearing, and cable. The glass is all original except for a new Sigla windshield that has been added. New weather-stripping and seals have been added throughout. The carpet is new wool square-weave in charcoal as the owner did not feel the 911-correct aftermarket velour is an accurate representation of the original. Much of the hardware has been re-plated as is the chrome work; many other painted pieces were done in powder coat for lasting durability. New sheet metal includes the rockers and front pan, all professionally installed, while the floors appear to be original. The original horns have been refurbished, the original Bosch signal lenses have been polished, and all date-matched wheels were re-chromed. The pedal assembly has been rebuilt with new bushings. The single-circuit braking system has been refurbished with new master cylinder, new hard and soft brake lines, rebuilt calipers, new pads and new rotors. The suspension has also been refurbished with new bushings, shocks, and struts. The steering dampener has also been replaced with a new Koni unit, while the original fuel tank was professionally recoated. All instruments were refurbished with new chrome bezels. The original blue-tip radio antenna is mounted to car; the original Becker radio per Certificate of Authenticity (COA) will accompany the car. The exterior was finished in Slate Gay with single-stage German Standox paint. Great lengths were taken to ensure a perfect match to the original Porsche color. The paint work is exceptional and has been recently detailed. The interior including seats, dashboard, door panels, garnish rails, are all finished in leather.

    Since the completion of the restoration five years ago, the short wheelbase 911 has been driven approximately 600 miles per season and is kept in a heated, humidity controlled garage. The car currently shows fewer than 95,000 miles on the odometer which is believed to be original. The car is well sorted, and has been recently serviced. This beautiful early 911 took first-place honors in its class at a local PCA People Choice Concours. Included in the sale are a COA, Kardex, jack, tool kit and driver's manual. The early 911 is considered by many enthusiasts as the purest of the company's air-cooled sports cars. With such an extensive, expertly conducted restoration this Porsche is perfectly suited for tours and Concours; however, with as much attention paid to mechanics as aesthetics this car could easily be an enthusiast's gorgeous driver. The opportunity to find such a great, built in 65, 911 – with its matching numbers engine and wonderful restoration – does not come along often. This one, therefore, should be seriously considered by all 911 fans.
