Looking for: 911S engine 6310001-6311959

Hi All,

I'm looking for an S engine for a 71S Targa. My Dad purchased it knowing it had a 2.4T in it and would like to replace it with the correct 6310001-6311959 engine.

It doesn't need to be rebuilt but that would be a plus.

Mark Harmon was on Leno recently and told a story about an old Ford pickup he had when he was young and not in the Hollywood racket.
He tracked it down years later by looking at Hemmings every month.
It had made its way across country with one stop in Chicago before ending up in New Hampshire. The owner figured out who Harmon was without much help as I gathered that Harmon let on to who he was. Oops.
It went downhill from there. Needless to say the new owner wanted a lot more than it was worth and also another truck to replace the exact one he had formerly belonging to Harmon.

The Seller has been trying to sell this engine for a while, now --- read the whole thread. At this point, you can buy the entire thing . . . or just the bits.

Kinda sad, really. Like the cars they belong to, these engines are rare. At some point, I'd like put together a correct 'back-up' motor for my car. I'll remember this one . . .

Thank you for engine offers. My dad and I are still trying to figure out how to proceed with this S. Prices are way up there even for a non rebuilt so we may need to rethink this.

Would be nice to see another matching S out in the community

As long as you've done an inventory of all the bits, and everything's there . . . looks like you've got your motor. And, from the details given, sounds like a good deal, for a good price. The Seller represents himself well, too, so if something comes later, you can work with him. Congratulations!

You've still got some expenses coming . . . you've got to put the motor somewhat back together, stick it in the car, fire it up, check the compression, get it tuned and set-up, etc. If it were me, I wouldn't do the Carrera tensioner update; I'd use the Turbo's instead, to keep the vintage 'look.'
