    Fs- 1966 912

    For Sale: 1966 Porsche 912

1966 Porsche 912, built 12/65, VIN # 454285. Red/Black leatherette, originally 6604 Ivory. Mileage showing 122819 but is not correct as odometer quit earlier this Summer. Car restored sometime in its past and resprayed in red to a very high standard, however its previous life in Arizona was not kind to the paint with numerous stone chips and one small dent in front trunk lid. Paint still has a beautiful shine. Car has documentation that shows it has been in the South and West all its life until I bought and drove it to Ohio in 1997. All work preformed or parts replacement listed here has been done since my ownership. Type 616/39 #1284732 engine not original to car, rebuilt in 2001 by Vic Skirmants to 1720cc with new NPR P&C set, using his street cam, and has his full flow oil filter option added plus maintains an operational stock filter. Rebuilt 022 distributor. Skirmants rebuilt and restored solid shaft Solex carbs. No flat spots, fantastic torque, pulls smoothly from off-idle to redline. A joy to drive. Generator rebuilt by Vintage Electric. Engine sheetmetal and air cleaners powder coated, engine compartment nicely detailed and complete. Clutch disc replaced while apart. Original 5-speed Type 902/1 transaxle, # 225820, with Swepco 201 is quiet and shifts like cutting butter, exactly as it should. Shifter rebuilt with all bushings replaced. CV joints renewed. All front and rear suspension bushings replaced with new Porsche bushings, new ball joints, Turbo tie-rods, aligned and set at true Euro ride height. There is a small amount of play in the steering rack on-center but it tightens up as soon as wheel is turned and stays tight. Original Boge dampers replaced with Koni Classic adjustable shocks front and rear. Yokohama AVS Intermediate 185/65/15 with excellent tread depth on 5.5x15 Fuchs, wheels in “driver +” condition with some scrapes, could be refinished or driven as is, or replaced with correct steel wheels and hub caps. Brakes system changed to dual circuit with new ATE master cylinder, brake lines and hoses, rebuilt calipers and new Ferodo brake pads. I used a new round ATE reservoir from an early BMW that looks factory in its stock location. Pedal cluster rebuilt with bronze bushings. New clutch cable. Floors coated with POR15 top and bottom. German square weave carpets and rubber mats in excellent condition. Seats very nice with rare “roll” headrests. Headliner shows a few stains but is overall very nice, visors are near perfect. 3 gauge dash has had period small green faced VDO Oil Pressure and Ammeter installed, has rare clock option in lower dash. Clock also stopped working this Spring. All lights work inside and out except dealer added 4-way flashers. Original working Blaupunkt Frankfurt AM/FM/SW radio and loudspeaker. Original tinted glass, windshield is starting to show some delaminating around the edges. Original wood steering wheel would benefit from restoration but is nice for a driver. Front trunk very clean with no rust and original carpets. Tool kit not all original but is functional and complete. Owners manual and Maintenance book in both English and German, radio and antenna booklets, Porsche service centers location book, receipts, records and COA included. Usable parts saved during refurbishing and some new tune-up parts go with the car.

A correction about the visors, I have found a previously unnoticed small hole in the passenger side visor. I’m sure a good upholstery shop could fix this, but I want to make sure it’s disclosed. Check the pictures carefully.
    Thanks.

Thanks Thom, full asking price + helps but it's still like selling a child. Had a lot of interest in it from all around the world but it's off to sunny Florida.
