You haven't happened to see a 67 911 lying around?

    Backstory...

My father-in-law sold his 911 just before my wife received her driver's license in 1979. He, recently passed away, but in all the paperwork we found the original bill of sale. I was just wondering on the off chance it didn't end up in a junkyard if anyone has suggestions beyond this forum to find the car.

    Particulars...

Bill of Sale from Auto Porsche Importaciones Esponola, S.A. dated 7/68 for a 1967 911 S, Silver, Chassis No. 306619, Engine No. 960744, $5,500. From the stories, we could never quite figure out if he was the orginial owner or not because of the importation to Spain (he was a AF fighter pilot). The vehicle was sold in 1978 in the Dayton, Ohio area. By that time it did not have the original engine; at various points it had a 2.4L and later a 2.7L. I don't think my father-in-law ever had the car "right" or to his liking.

I just figured I would take a shot at it with this group and see if anyone had any ideas.

    Thanks in advance,

    Update...

In talking to my brother-in-law this evening the car was sold in the Fort Walton Beach/Destin, Florida area, shortly before they moved to Dayton in 1978.

    Good chance

    Looking into the past..

Could be your father-in-law was based in Torrejon AFB outside Madrid. Pilots, of course, are well-known and keen on driving Porsches. Good chance he ordered through a military discount program available to servicemen in those days. By 1971, I was stationed in Rota Spain in the Navy Air; I'd brought a 356C that I'd purchased in Washington DC over and drove it during my tour there. A Marine officer, I recall, bought a new 911 (don't recall the T, E or S). After not too long he wrecked it. It was out of commission for, literally years. For one thing, the Spanish (discount?) insurance company was not really equipped to deal with such an expensive car. I don't recall if he ever got it fixed.

Good luck finding your father-in-law's car. I have 800+ SWB cars in a DB and don't have it. Sorry.
