Is this the correct blaupunkt frankfurt?

    Hi Everyone,

Can I get an experienced eye on this radio? Is this a correct german radio for a 1970 911E? Will it mount properly? BTW - does anyone know what the box sitting on top is?

    Thanks for your help,

    Best,

    Alex

Looks like a European Frankfurt [US goes to 108]. The bezel and knobs look 1968 [Z prefix]. A 1970 Blaupunkt will have an A or B prefix to the serial nr. The box is some kind of traffic warning device I think.

    Box

The word "Verkehrsrundfunk" translates into "Traffic Broadcast", so it appears to be a traffic frequency receiver.

These radios were fairly common in BMW Bavarias, Audi 100s, etc. The Porsche parts needed to mount this radio are fairly rare these days. Check to see if your car has a black U shaped bracket behind the location of the radio under the dash. You need that if it was removed. Your radio has the shorter non stereo chassis so it needs the U shaped galvanized bracket that bolts to the back of the radio that extends it to the first mentioned bracket. Then you need the clips that fit on the shafts to position the radio in the dash opening. Then there is the galnanized sheet metal face plate that is covered with basket weave. All these things were tossed when Craig 8 tracks came out! The look of that radio in the dash is hard to beat, good luck!
