    early seat help please?

anyone care to take a poke at what this seat is? only two lousy pics. I need to pull the trigger fairly quickly, like less than 24 hrs. he thinks they've been in the car since the late 70's. ANY input much appreciated. I'm thinking scheels but I can't find a pic on anything, recaro or scheel that matches the turnbuckle. thanks, Don.

If you don't know what it is, you don't deserve to own it.....

how about if I'm only buying them to re-sell to a more deserving owner at no profit to myself. in that case I'd like to be able to represent them properly, so you'd really be doing the new and more deserving owner a service.

    it's a pair, BTW

In the pic, the drivers side is a factory sport seat.

In the passenger side is a rally bucket, ostensibly a factory recaro adjustable bucket, RSR, or RS lightweight, or by order from Recaro or Porsche.

IF it's known how long it's been in the car, then purchase with abandon!

However, there was a very very good knockoff done in the 80's, I happen to own one of them. And, of course, there are repro's on the market now (I believe...).

the mate to the one in the pic is in storage. I'm tempted to take them, even though they may be knockoffs. for the price I could buy a set of new GTS seats but I'm thinking of taking a shot with these ones. the 80's knock-offs make sense with the time frame. I find it hard to accept that original recaros have stayed with the car this long. it was converted to an 'RS' look around the late 70's. he did mention that they have 'lightening' holes in the buckets, does that make sense? I've looked at pics of the modern knock-offs and the turnbuckle doesn't seem to match up to any of them. thanks for the help.

ps. what would you figure for a value on the knock-off like the one you have?

My memory is that I paid about $600 to $700 for the seat, with an incorrect sliding bracket, about 2 years ago. I don't have access to my seat this week, but will be able to get a pic of the seat this weekend if you want.

If you can get a pic of the slider set up to me, I'll be I can tell if it's real or not... it would help to see the mounting assembly (to the floor) as well.. I'm hoping it's a very simple cross bar arrangement.
