    356A valuation

any opinions re valuation on a solid 1959 standard 356A
not running, in pieces, 2 engines (not sure if either is original)
supposedly all there. in primer sort of.
    an abandoned restoration
what questions should i ask, having no 356 experience.
and what is a fair price for a 3-4 car.
ps owner is knowledgable, i don't expect a bargain barn find price.

    Bob,

This could be a dangerous (to your wallet) situation. The big things to be concerned about are rust and accident damage. Both are very likely in a car over 50 years old. Have it checked out by a knowledgeable 356 type. As far as value, a 3-4 car is the range of $15K I think with solid pans and not too much rust.

Restoration, $50K min. $75+ probable, value of car in present condition 7-8k. Years to restore 3,to 6+.

Nice running, driving 356s can be purchased for 35-40k, and enjoyed the day you buy it.

    thanks

    thats what i thought.
    since working on my 72e,
i realize buying a sold running car is always cheaper in the end.
although i am enjoying my resto, i don't know if i want to do another.
i'll see what he asks for it.
