    Messko ID help

Can anyone help identify these Messko's? My belief is that the 2 dual scale are correct for 65-68 911/912, are they also correct for 65-65 356? What about the single gauge, correct for Porsche, or aftermarket/correct for another car?

How about the 3 pouches, anyone know the difference between the smooth grey, pebbled grey, or red?

    thanks

    Messko

I am absolutely certain, well almost, that the gauge and bag in the middle was original to 1964/1965 356 C models but could also be found in other years/models.

The gauges should be all dual scale for Porsche at least from late B cars.

    So, the bakelight messko...

The one on the far right, dark dark burgundy is the correct body for a 356 C/SC, but it needs to be a dual scale.

I would go for either "red" messko as being correct for early 911, but would err towards the darker red one.

As far as the bags, the one in the middle is the correct one, both others came later as aftermarket bags.

Most of the messkos that came in the red pouch were red bakelight with silver face, at least that's what I've always seen.

    cheers,
    Eric

First let me say I know very little about the subject matter. That said I recently aquired from a friend the guage he had in his tool kit from a 69 912 he purchased new in 69. The guage is the brighter red and single scale 20 to 140. The pouche is like the first one gray with no grain. I don't know if this helps or confuses matter further but this is what I have to offer.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

    Joe,

Always good to hear about anomolies, if it's a one off and we don't hear from someone else we could concur that the dealer might have needed to buy one from the aftermarket and put it in the kit as the kit was missing the original messko. OR, perhaps a few others with 1969 cars might show up with them.

I might point out here that this is the first I've heard of an original owner car with a Messko from 1969. I've yet to find a one owner car with a messko past 1968. So, the messko here could have been a dealer boutique item that this owner bought at the counter in 1969 when taking delivery, or perhaps this dealer threw it in with the car, etc.

Good to know though!! Perhaps it's a data point....

Soterik, only to say that for italian cars (don't know if all europeans cars) the SINGLE scale is correct. I Never seen double scale.
