Thread: Rod Emory's Limbs for Life 356 Raffle

Wink Rod Emory's Limbs for Life 356 Raffle

Rod Emory is raffling off his 1953 356 race car to benefit Limbs for Life, an organization that provides artificial limbs for people who have lost a limb and can't afford a prosthesis. They cost many thousands each.

Many of you know Rod. His dad Gary has been one of the people to go to for Porsche parts since the 70s or earlier. Rod started Emory Motorsports, building vintage racing cars and providing track side support. They've done a number of both 356s and 911s. In addition the shop builds "Emory Specials"; one off outlaws of many different descriptions. I'm biased because I own one, but I think they do a great job of putting together cars that are original and still true to the Porsches behind each car.

Rod is a craftsman, engineer, driver, and businessman. He's put a lot of his skills toward supporting Limbs for Life, including starting a racing team.

Raffle tickets have been on sale for $100 each for about 3 months and 1300 have been sold. For the raffle to be successful 1600 tickets have to be sold.

I've got two tickets and I plan to win the car, so I guess I'm just asking you guys for charity . The car is road legal and Rod has the car set up for the street, figuring that it was more likely that the winner would want to drive it on the street. Rod will set it up and include a weekend of driving instruction (and Rod has raced pro) if the winner wants to race the car.

    The web site is:

It's a good cause, the guy behind it is one of ours, and it's a great car.

    Thanks,
    Alan

I couldn't get the link on the Foundation's home page to work. Here's the direct URL to Rod's site where you can buy tickets...

As many people write: it's all in the archives. Sorry I missed your post Chuck, but glad to give Rod a plug.

    Take care,
    Alan
