Ever seen a Finnwheel? Pre Fuchs - Fuchs

A guy in my Porsche network has a odd wheel and did some research and come up with something really funny. It seems there was a Swedish wheel that was used by Porsche and was the inspiration to Fuchs in the design of the classic 67S wheel. Take a look at this!

I think it's 1966. Look at the Targa from the autoshow, that looks very early.

    Interesting find.

Me too saw this pic in one of my doc's.
The photo is most likely in IAA Frankfurt, sept 1965.
It would be interesting to know the date of production of ad and Finn wheel.

"The light-alloy wheel produced by the german firm Fuchs (in WWll, Fuchs build most wheels on german tanks, including Porsche designed "Tiger" tank) was commissioned by Porsche to be the first light-alloy wheel to be mounted on a serial car...around the same time, in 1963/64, Mercedes-Benz also put an order and equipped their cars later with Fuchs wheel too. (shape differs.)..

Porsche model-maker Heinrich Klie received an order to design the future Fuchs wheel in-house in Stuttgart using initially some wheel templates by US firm ALKOA he tried to re-interpretate, improving its looks and adapting to the Fuchs manufacturing methods."

"Pre-production Fuchs by Porsche got several times re-designed for structural rigidity until put on market with the 67S."

I would think that the sharp corners cut into the wheel would result in fatigue cracks. Mypostulate is that the Fuchs wheels, with their rounded corners, were so designed to alleviate this problem.

Are we saying that the conventional history may be wrong?

Otto Fuchs simply redesigned the Swedish wheel?

Was the Finnwheel cast or forged?
