My C of A states that my 73S was delivered with the "16 inch Cast 'Cup' wheel".
I can't figure out what this refers to in any of my reference books. I'm sure that someone in the group can help out.
Thanks in advance.

Another of the now famous egregious typos eevery CofA seems to have these days. 16" wheels did not exist on Porsche street cars in 1973.

I thought that was the case. So no special 16" wheels eh.
So the 'cast cup' part of the line, cookie cutters?
"Cup" wheels are the five spoke wheel that was available on
993's ('95-'98). That may be the goofiest C of A mistake I've
heard of.

The problem is that Porsche recycled option numbers, and whoever intepreted the Kardex record used the wrong option number translation list for the year. PCNA needs to have a concise option list for each model year to do the translation correctly. I'm not sure that even these online forums have such a complete, model year specific, option list.

I owned a 70 T that came with the very rare 7 x16 & 9 x 16 wheel option according to COA.

Does your CoA list the code for your Cup wheel option? I think the code could be 458, which is 16" alloy wheels for later 911´s.
For a 1969-73 911, code 458 is a Becker Europa US band radio.

CoAs have become a complete joke - incorrect colors, bizarre option mistakes, etc. Porsche needs to start giving a damn enough to do it right or stop providing them. Will be interesting to see what sort of ethos develops in the post-Wiedeking era.
Agreed. It's kind of disappointing to have such a lack of attention to detail on a document costing as much as it does.
My 16" Cup Wheel option doesn't list a code however, only the text. I was going to try to look up the the 993 16" Cup code and see if I might be able to back-reference it to the '73 option. Maybe they have the same number?
So I called porsche COA and they offered to re-issue my paper even though I wasn't the original purchaser. They admitted that their process has gotten better over the years. Anyhow, got the new COA in the mail today. Apparently my "Cup Wheel" was actually Konis.
