    Wheels- 6x16 for SWB Question

Has anyone put 6x16 Fuchs (36mm offset) on a SWB 911?

I have used both 6x16 and 7x16 Fuchs on my SWB cars. The 6x16 has the same ET as the 6x15, and adjusting the aspect ratio of the tire by -1 step (say 55 vs. 60) will give you similar rolling diameters with no fitment problems, but some people don't like the look of a lower aspect ratio tire on an early car. The 6x16 has a particularly large, flat, flange joining the spokes to the barrel that looks pretty odd to me, so I sold them long ago in favor of 15s. The 7x16 doesn't look quite as weird, I don't think, perhaps because of the angled flange, but it is harder to fit due to clearance problems with the width and an ET of 23mm.

Here's my '68 just out of the paint shop w/ polished 6x15 and 205/60 tires, then late, black-centered 7x16 w/ 205/45 Hoosiers that I still use for autox.

Thanks for the info, as far as looks, I have always thought the black center Fuchs looked a little weird. I assume the lower profile handles better. Also I could'nt tell if the rear of your car was lowered, or was stock height.

I think if the 16 has a early style finish, and the car is low enough to tuck the wheel under the fender, it looks a lot better.

new question on old thread & a pic

Old thread, but noticed it looking for info on max tire on a 6 x 16 for my 71 that had a problem today and now need a new set, wondering max tire on a 6 x 16, running 205 55 now, I know I could fit a 215 55 as I am running 8mm spacer all around, wondering about 225-50's anyone??

Also running same on my 66 912 coupe pictured, had to post after the previous post, I hope you approve.

    Regards
