    Midwest Ice Racing

We got a few S Reg members (me, Randy S., Larry M., Scott H., Scott Z.) and a few others together for some wintertime fun over the weekend. The ice and the weather were perfect. Randy was brave enough to mount up some studded tires on his 2.7MFI Conda Green 70S and drive it like it was meant to be driven. I got in some seat time with it and it was laugh-out-loud fun. Everybody who drove it had a gigantic grin Next year .... there will be more 911's out there!

We laid the course out on a napkin Friday night, giving several alternate circuits. Scott Z plowed about 4-5 inches of snow off the lake Sat morning, exposing a billiard table-smooth ice surface (see last pic). Then we ran all day Sat & Sun.

Any of you Calif boys who want to give it a try next year ... come on out, we'll set you up with a car!

My favorite pic of the weekend (all of us got up close & personal with the snowbanks multiple times).

Curt, looks like you could use some studded tires to get that turbo power down.

That little problem will be resolved shortly with about 300 spikes per tire I'm also running without working center and rear differential locks right now (which makes it like a 2WD vehicle on ice). With the diff locks repaired and the spikes, I plan to be running with (or passing!) Troy on his motorcycle

As a side benefit the spiked tires will fit nicely on my 6" Fuchs ....

AWESOME CURT! I miss my urquattro's... I know I've complimented you before on your Mars Red unit, good to go. Uber kewl movie too!

Sports Car Club of Vermont had Ice time trials last weekend out on Lake Champlain Mallets Bay ~ ice is sitting around 14-17" thick. I might take the S6 out next weekend.

Good schtuff, keep the photos coming!

I know Scott took some video from his WRX with a roof cam - hopefully he'll post those.

I've got more pics and vids here: In The Garage

From the looks of the radar today, you may be able to try this in Dallas soon Bob.
