Thread: WTB: Factory Rear Nudge Bar

  1. #11
The one on John's car (glad to see pics, btw) is the one I sold him. I was NOS, in factory wrapping, no less. I kind of wish I still had it! That said, rechroming them is damned expensive, especially on top of the price of getting a good core. They are not cheap, but are definitely one of neater cosmetic pieces you can install. Couple one with a muffler skirt and rear fog light and you have every bit of 'ass candy' worth installing.

Maybe a stupid question, excuse me ; but what will the market price range for a nice re-chromed bar ?

68-73 for sure. I'm not sure about pre 68. I'm sure "Mr. 67" could tell us.

Not offered in 67 from everything I have found, but I could be wrong. I first found it in my dad's price lists for 1968, listed as a "double bumper". I've also seen a picture of one in Christophorus on a 68 car on the assembly line.

    cheers,

That picture is obviously a fake - there has never been a day that nice in Scotland. At least on the many occassions I have played golf there.

I disagree. My son was conceived a few miles east of there, so there was at least one nice day!

    Another Type of Nudge Bar?

Note: I posted the following a couple of years ago and got no response. I'm reposting it to this active discussion of nudge bars to see if anyone might know something about this other type.

There's the rear nudge bar option offered by the factory and the after-market ones offered by Amco. Is there a third type?

I was cleaning the garage this weekend and I found two bars that are very similar to the factory nudge bar: same diameter, same threads for mounting bolts - except they aren't curved on the end. They appear to mount in between the bumper guards instead of on the outside. I dug around here for a while and found a comment and picture a couple of years ago that appears to describe what I have. Here's the picture:

Is anyone familiar with these? Who made them, when were they made?

    Thanks,
    John Audette

The one above is the aftermarket nudge bar made by Amco. More common and less expensive than the factory unit, they also don't look as well refined, since they have a mounting plate at both ends that screws into the bumperette. I had some of these, as well, but sold them. They go for about 25% of the going price for the factory bar, in like condition.
