I'd bet a few bucks that one was fabricated to look like the Amco, but clearly doesn't have the bar stock plates at the end - they look mounted directly from the tube into the bumperette.

Kenik is right. The bars I'm referring to don't have end plates - they mount directly into the side of the bumper guards. Unlike the more typical factory nudge bar that mounts directly into the back of the bumper guards. The third type looks a lot like the factory type: they're about the same diameter and they have the same type of threaded ends for the mounting bolts. I'll try to get some pictures up in the next couple of days.

    Hi,

I know those bars and that car as we chromed and installed them, in fact we restored that car. Those rear nudge bars are similar to the Amoco style but use a small grub screw on two inner sections which open and thus hold into place against the over rider. I have only ever seen that style twice and both were on French delivered cars. It is not a factory Porsche part but are still cool.

I am curious: what is the diameter of the bars of all three styles?

    1. I seem to recall that the factory bar was just shy of an inch.
    2. I also seem to recall that the Amco bar seemed narrower.

John, any chance you could toss a caliper on the NOS bar? The factory bar looks so much more approriate to me and am wondering if it is the bar proportions.

I should think of these things before I get rid of them...

    Hi John,

Ironically, there are 2 '69S's on eBay right now, both with the nudge bar you mention in the beginning of this thread. Maybe I've never noticed them in the past, but they now are everywhere I look!

So what kind of money can one expect to pay for one of these?

Found one in excellent condition for $1300 and an NOS one for $2000.

    nudge bar

Here is a better picture of the third type of nudge bar. Unfortunately, this vehicle is long gone so I am unable to measure or take apart to see how they are attached.

    John,

just got back from the LA Lit show and couldn't wait to post this right away.

I too have been looking for one of these bars and had just about given up, when I ran across this vendors display at Saturday's Lit show at the Hilton.

Bob Chase, owner of Grey Eagle ( Tel: 661. 832. 9148, e-mail: gryglebob@hotmail.com ) from Bakersfield, CA. Bob makes ands sells absolutely authentic, very convincing reproductions of these bars, as well as the duoble-bar AMCO style, between the inside faces of the bumperettes.

They are beautifully executed and chromed, correct diameter, curvature and fastening method, and I assure you, one cannot distinguish between his and the much pricier originals.....except his are available nowand he quoted me a price of $325.00 + shipping.

    Highly recommended.....mine's on its way.
