    85 L plastic tank repair

I recently discovered that my 85 L plastic gas tank has a crack in one of the cross creases.
Is there a plastic welding repair kit available to repair this crack that can cope with 98 octane gas ?

    TIA,
    Dennis.
1970 914-6 - materialised from the 'Lotto' garage into reality
    1971 2.2 911 S - now back in the UK - sob!
1975 Carrera Targa (ROW) - missed.
One of us is fast becoming a valuable antique.

    Dennis:

I'm sure there are any number of plastic "weld" type products out there but you are really playing with a ticking time bomb there.

It would be ideal if you could "blow" a ballistic type liner into the tank to take care of the real problem. 92 or 98 octane makes no difference in a fire.
I also recall that somebody sold a "hard shell" that could be mounted in the car which the tank sat in for protection.

    Please take all necessary precautions!

    Good luck,

Dave Buhain at M&S Road and Race makes the liner for under the tank that Tom is talking about. I've had 3 plastic tanks welded/fixed - sent 'em to Scott Hendry (Scott's Independent in Anaheim, Ca.) and they'll all working fine.

You reckon why Dave has those?

I recall he attempted to become a meteorite at an event after rupturing a tank (at speed).

Yes, I stand corrected. Chuck (and Chris) are right on BOTH counts....dangerous road.... Especially when you're sandwiched between Buhain and Curt A. and Johnny R....
