I have posted this on another thread but it makes more since for it to be here. Can anyone help me. I too have a 65/66 and it did not have horns mounted. I did receive one horn, which I think went w the car though not certain. I was also handed this matching set of horns from a good friend, but they are considerably smaller and do not have any tags. May have a part no, but I have not inspected them closely. Notice that the tag would only have a single screw based on the one hole in the center. He wrote 66 912 on them bc he did pull them from a 912, but not sure if original to that car or exactly what they would be from. Someone on earlier post mentioned that they were something rare for a 356? Thanks for the help, Mark

I have a 1965 Porsche 911. Its horns are the same as the 356 Carrera and they were pretty rare in the 356 days. They're really loud and not exactly musical. They're obviously intended to get people out of the way fast. You have to disconnect the battery to remove the horn button--nobody can withstand that noise long enough to wrestle off the horn button.
They're fairly big and they have a front grill. As far as I can see, the big leftmost horn in your bottom picture matches but I haven't checked the number on that tag.

Now that is funny right there.
290 Hz is close to a middle D (293.665 hz)
345 Hz is close to a middle F (349.228 hz)
The reason for using two frequencies is that they will alternatively cancel and augment each other, resulting in both a louder sound, and a beat oscillation.

I'm afraid the tags on my horns aren't too clean.
I can't verify that the Bosch part number matches the one in Mark Erbesfield's photo.
