Thread: What year is this colour chart for?

What year is this colour chart for?

I just got this dealer colour brochure and I'm trying to figure out what year it is for. I bought it without a close picture and was hoping for a 70-71 version, but clearly this an earlier SWB version. I remember seeign the overlay with panels before, but can't find it in a search. My question is what year is it correct for?

    Included in the package were:

    - Padded black vinyl fold out brochure holder with color dots and 4 languages on front - marked W11 - printed in Germany

    - Fold out interior materials - 3 panels for 911 on one side and 2 panels on reverse for 912 models. All leather, leatherette, and carpet samples look great

    - Clear coupe overlay (no targa)

    - 9 colour chips / panels for overlay for the following colours:
    - 6601 Slate Grey
    - 6602 Polo Red
    - 6603 Gulf Blue
    - 6604 Light Ivory
    - 6605 Bahama Yellow
    - 6606 Irish Green
    - 6607 Sand Beige
    - 6608 Aga Blue
    - 6609 Black

    Thanks

Since the colour codes are 66xx it would be correct for both 1966 & 1967.
As to when it was printed and made available is difficult to know, so I would defer to Eric on that point.

Porsche sales brochures often have a designation such as the above "w11" followed by something like "10.66", for example, which would indicate October 1966. That's the date of printing, not the model year; this example would be for the 1968 model year. Check the back page, where the "w11" is found.

Hi Frank - That's exactly it, I'm used to seeing a print date on info - here, all the pieces have 4 languages, but no date?
The aformentioned 'w11' is found on the front of the fold out vinyl holder, but the piece is enclosed and sealed in clear vinyl so I can't check the back.

Gulf blue is 1967 only....as I recall, I know it's supposed to be for 1966 as well, but I can't recall a 1966 car in Gulf blue.

This is a lovely piece of document and quite rare.

My understanding is that it was used for 1967-1968. A second second set of colors and of textiles (without the plastic cover) was sent to dealers at the end of the first year to introduce new colours.

That is also the case for later dealer folders (71,72,73) which were larger and had a black vinyl cover. Only the inside changed from year to year.

Very nice book, and sadly I was second in line after you when it was sold on Pelican a few days ago according to Greg the seller.... If you want to sell it since its not 70-71, let me know.

In my database I have 4 1966 in Gulf Blue, and 7 in 1967.
Lots of 1966 912's as well.

    Bump

    Hi
Doing some research on my paint plate. Can someone please help me ID this colour code + the other numbers. Top line is VIN.

    It reads 63-6804-L.

    Any thoughts?Name: IMG00200-20110728-1133.jpg
