Thread: Midwest R Gruppe Transmission Clinic

    Midwest R Gruppe Transmission Clinic

Thought we should share some pictures from the 901 transmission clinic that we held last weekend. Brian Fryar, Scott Hanson and Bill G overcame some of the worst road conditions we have seen all winter to drive down to Ohio for some beer drinking and transmission rebuilding (although not necessarily in that order).

The clinic was hosted by my long-time friend Yuri Rojas from The Garaj in Dayton Ohio. Yuri and his assistant Dave cleared out the shop so that we could invade for the weekend, supplied us with parts at a nice discount and watched over our shoulders so that we didn't do anything incredibly stupid.

Special thanks as well to Tony Proasi and his buddy Richard who drove all the way up from Louisville just to hang out and loan us some specialized tools. Tony has done a ton of these gearboxes and things wouldnt have gone nearly as smooth if he hadn't been there!

All in all, it was a success. We freshened up four gearboxes and I am relatively confident that none of them will be a box full of neutrals.

In our first photo you see that while most of us were focused on gearboxes, Bill had other things on his mind.

Here we have Brian getting a quick buzz from the parts wash tank. He kept repeating "I don't have this much fun with the nitrous oxide at my dental practice!"

The second photo is Yuri allowing me to handle the more technical portion of operating a hydraulic press. The lesson to take from this is that some people have heads that are meant to wear ball-caps.

Here we see Yuri helping Scott button up his new box. It is a 67 case with an A-F-KA-Q-X gearset.

Shortly after this was taken, Scott realized that his wedding ring was missing and it all had to be done over again.

In our final photo, you can see Tony P wondering what the heck Bill was thinking of when he tore three core boxes apart at one time!

I seem to remember this differently.

I should have known better than to turn my back to this mad man.

Seriously, was a great time. Can't wait to get the box into the car.

Dave, Dave, Dave - that is my RIGHT hand in the photo. Wedding rings are worn on the left hand. Wait a second, I don't have it on my left hand either! Oh s--t, I need to tear that box apart again...

Seriously good fun and learning. I too am looking forward to getting it in the car. Bill, I am ready for the tranmission change over party you mentioned.
