Thread: Going rate for a really nice non-sunroof non-S tub?

Going rate for a really nice non-sunroof non-S tub?

If one were looking for a no body work needed straight as can be tub what would one expect to pay?

And if one were to deliver said tub (with nothing on it) to a competent painter what would one expect to pay for a paint job?

    Thanks,
    Erik

Complicated question because of the rust free requirement.

Clean rust free tubs appear to be non-existent. Unless you are lucky enough to inherit a project car that already has been rust repaired; $6,000 or so.

Paint job alone $5,000 to $10,000.

    Erik,

I would look for a complete car it might be easier.

Well $6k is kinda what i was expecting for a really nice tub. Not sure a complete car with a quality tub could be brought down to $6k via parting out the 'stuff' on it.

Hopefully won't need to find out but wanting to get my ducks in a row so I have a workable plan when the negotiating starts.

Just for a data point I have about 12-16K in a tub in rust repair, plus the cost of the car. Its well worth paying up for a truly rust free tub/car.

I was looking for a nice rust free tub last year and found a couple of nice ones in the 6K range. As other have stated, rust free is the key.
There seem to be a lot of 912 conversions available for less money, if you're okay with that. I was not and I wanted a 911 VIN car.

It's nobody's business what cars I own. I will tell you one thing though, they're air cooled and I beat 'em like they owe me money.
