Gib, I completely agree with your assessment of the early 964s. I have been secretly pining for one myself as they represent an excellent value and really good looks.

I had a '93 C4 lined up as my secret midwest winter driver back in late '08. The guy, in CO, ended up selling it locally at the last minute. Then I bought my '68 instead. I still want a 964 C4, despite its supposed "sputnik" AWD system. Right now I'm tied up with a M-B 190E, but if that thing goes down I will return to the 964 hunt.

Have had this car (and a very similar orange version) in my head for some time. Not sure i'd like the driving experience of a 964 vs. my '70 but darned if it isn't pretty effing sweet. Even the interior on this car is close (not perfect!) to what i'd want. Basically a 997 GT3RS interpretation on a 964.

Not sure about the cage not having bars along the rockers and really don't care for carbon fiber, real or pretend, in a car like that....but still a very nice vibe.

I have yet to forget what it was like sitting in Baron's green GT3RS and just how farking awesome the interior was. all business and yet luxurious. These 964's give a poor man hope to obtain a similar, if humble, version of that vibe.

A great buy! The summers in Holland do not get as hot as your desert temps, so that's not an excuse for my ownership of a '92 RS On top of that - no AC! I bought mine a number of years ago - they are no longer good buys in Europe with prices rising steadily and surely getting close to '73 prices in the next 10 years..
