    Cool Well's Articles and photography

    John:

I really must concur with your statements regarding this issue and in particular the PHENOMENAL article on Porsches, Leica Cameras , and vintage audio equipment, by Mr. Wells.

    Let me add another:

Vintage motorcycles. Besides the other 3 mentioned, there is nothing quite like wrapping your legs around a 50 year old Hog, or an old NSU 250 single, or an early Triumph, and trying your best to keep that sh*t eating grin to a minimum , all while doing the balancing act of trying to look professional and stay upright.

    Turn signals ?

They are those things attached to your shoulder and were taught by your dad when you first got training wheels on your new bike.

Loved the newest issue of Esses.........what a GREAT publication. Proud to be a part of this fine group.
    Best Regards,

    Randy,
    Great essay!

Old 911's, cameras, records and turntables. You make me sorry that I got rid of my old vinyl LP records and turntable about ten years ago. I'm glad I've kept my old tools and my old Porsches...and even an old SLR Nikon camara that I mortgaged my soul for when I bought it back in the early 1970s. I'm still using my old tools, still modifying my old Porsches...and although I mainly use a digital camara now I still have my old Nikon.

Thanks again for a great essay that keeps this all in perspective.

PS. Also, thanks also to John Dilger, Chuck Miller and the rest of you all involved in publishing the "ESSES". You've made it into a world class publication.

With the switch to the larger format, each issue just gets better and better.

Hey Richard...I'm one up on you. I never threw away my vinyl and turntables, including my old Dual. It's matched to an equally old Marantz 2230 with its blue illuminated dial and smooth flywheel tuning; they look great together, each with their walnut cases.

Still have my early 70s F-body Nikon too (with metered head...whoo hooo).

But dang...I always wanted a Leica. Wonder what they go for on E-Bay?

Thanks guys! Glad you liked the article.

Thanks to John and Chuck for giving folks like me the venue to talk about our other "archaic" stuff that gets collected over the years. Great idea on a motorcycle off-shoot. Maybe we could add old guitars, rally clocks, watches, etc.
