Costa Smeralda Rally Vs Monte Carlo Rally

Trying to decide whether to sacrifice the Costa Smeralda sticker the PO put on my car for the soon to arrive 1968 Monte Carlo Rally sticker I picked up from Manuel. Anyone else have a Costa Smeralda sticker on their car?

Ah, the Emerald Coast on the island of Sardinia. Amazing place. I personally would not take that off the car, but that's just me. The sticker looks great.

I would 100% keep the original costa smeralda sticker, is much rarer even if it's not from 1968. Is your car coming out of Italy by chance?

The PO was an submarine commander in the US Navy..so I'm guessing he picked up the sticker while in the area...it does go nicely with my paint...

    That's a super cool sticker.

I've always wanted to start a "show your vintage (rally/race) stickers" thread.
I know folks who visit this forum (myself included) have some great ones.

Mike, that could be the case, as on the Maddalena island (just in front of costa smeralda) there was one of the biggest submarine bases in the mediterranean sea. It has been closed a couple of years ago.

BTW, very nice car and nice and rare colour!

My opinion might be a "little" biased, I would keep the decal and get another '68 Porsche for the Monte Carlo decal.
Or wait until you receive the Monte decal to decide which one stays. They really look very nice installed, just today I put one on a friend's 911, this weekend I'll post some photos.

    Hallo.
I'm writing from Porto Cervo right now, the most famous city in Costa Smeralda.

I made my first bath yesterday afternoon in this emerald paradise...

The sticker you have is VERY rare.... absolutely DON'T waste it!

Once again this board proves to be a wealth of knowledge! Wish I was there with you Andrea...closest I've been is Monte Carlo. Still thinking of finding another 68 car to put the new rally sticker on per Manuels suggestion

Sent an email to the PO...he lived in Sardinia for 4 years and attended the rally twice...still had the original CA black plates as well!!
