    Well, that is interesting. Don't think it started life as an S, though. The 4th digit of the VIN should be a '5' for an S in 1968. The '3' represents the base 911 that year.

    Not sure the "S" designation matters at this point.

    To quote Smilin' Jack, an 80 year old used car manager I
    used to know: "I wouldn't give $20 for that if it had a full
    tank of gas!"

    Looks like something probably used by the past "mayor" for wilderness outings!

    It's high enough off the ground that when your sitting in it you can see Russia.

    For when the CL ad goes away:

    1968 Porsche 911 S Series - $7000 (Wasilla)
    "1968 (A Series) Porsche 911 S, VIN code 11 835 001, 11835119. VIN code verifies that this is car 119 out of 742 ever made. Vehicle has a Kenne Bell Buick 3.8L engine, modified to original power train, new clutch, and rebuilt carburetor. Vehicle includes all original glass, of which none is cracked or broken. Vehicle was last registered in 1986 and has only had two prior owners. Vehicle has been stored in a heated garage since then. Currently vehicle is not in running condition but with minimal parts, would make a great cruiser or a classic weekend ride on a Sunday afternoon."

    Priceless ad copy. Let's review...

    ˈvē-ə-kəl also ˈvē-ˌhi-kəl

    Noun: a medium through which something is expressed, achieved, or displayed <an investment vehicle>;
    especially : a work created especially to display the talents of a particular individual.

    And one must admit, it's very special.
