    Look what showed up...

at our PCA-SDR autox yesterday at Qualcomm stadium.

I tried not to drool on it in tech inspection. My favorite current model in my first color choice--if money were no object, I would have one in my garage, but unfortunately, I be too poor...

Fortunately, the owner was a novice, and even though I had to spot him a few hundred HP and more than a few square inches of contact patch, I managed to peddle my little skinny-tired 42-year-old SWB car exactly .05 seconds faster than him in timed runs. Made my broke-ass self feel a little better....

Didn't close the door hard enough before this run, so the starter made me slam it again before the next one (the shut lines are not THAT bad on the car!)

    GT3RS killer ;)

I love stories like this. Going faster with less and a healthy dose of skill can be so satisfying. That being said, no disrespect to the GT3RS driver/s. I would make space for that car in the garage in a second!

I learned a lesson years ago on a mountain bike trip with some people I had never ridden with on a downhill. I had a shiney new high end Specialized M2 with lots of 'performance' bits and was pretty confident with my riding ability. Confident until one of the guys in the riding party passed me on the right completely off line and in the rough on a Huffy. He had brought it as a joke and totally skunked me and many others that day. Since then I have been pretty humble and just have fun wearing tires and brakes down with other motorheads.

btw, nice car Tom! Thanks for sharing.

    Awesome pics.
    Awesome skills.

That little gray car looks every bit as good as that GT3.

    Tom,
Glad to hear that you made a statement with a long hood. I have not followed your gray car since it was back in the garage a fews years back being painted. Good to see the project was completed and came out nice.

Good goin'- using the advantages of a lightweight early 911 to beat the new cars. It is a badge of honor and driving skill. The agility of early 911s is only brought out by a driver skilled in trailing-throttle-oversteer, trail-braking, and quick hands to counter-steer the car around curves when the car starts to make a quick rotation.

My favorite thing at the SOW is chasing down 911s in our 356.
