Greetings! New member with some q's on a purchase

    Hello all,

Long time lurker first time poster...

I stumbled upon a 1969 911T for sale. Has S trim and aluminum calipers...125K miles..It is a two owner car and has lived its entire life in Silicon Valley. Its champagne yellow with black interior. Paint is nice...no accidents...Almost everything is original. Wheels, paint, weather strip and interior. Headliner is discoloured around the interior lamps. The seats could use some added padding and new covers. Carpet is tired...crack in dashboard..glass is good as is all of the window aluminum trim...could use all new lenses...
I put on a hoist to look for rust. Found none...I removed the seats and carpet and pulled up as much of that odd sound deadening material as possible and found no rust...There might be some rust somewhere that I could not find but the car is so cheap and in such nice condition I don't care if there is some lurking about.

I will replace the entire interior with new, and all of the lenses and weather strips...

The car is priced very low only $10,000.00 Seller is not aware of early 911 pricing. I'm going to pay his price.. the car does not have the original engine. It has a 2.4 case with 2.7 RS pistons and cylinders and solex cams. Per invoice. Engine was built in 1978 when the car had 100,000 miles. Motor and clutch only has 25k miles..Car is very fast, seems faster than my 993 up to 80mph..

What lies in the future of this car without its original engine...will it just be a nice 911T with a 2.7 and never see collector status because of the engine?

Should I look for a 2.0 L engine? ...Possibly buy a block from Porsche and have them stamp original numbers on the block like Ferrari will do for its customers..?

    Best, Ed

Wow, I wish I was that lucky.

Do not care about value, you should always be able to get 10K for it.

Drive it like you stole it (you did )

    Have fun!

Echoing Max's comments... Pay the seller and do not look back. Hotrodded 69? Naw, I don't like 'em. Nice find and have fun with the new acquisition. Please post fotos when you get a chance.

    Hi Ed,

Congrats! By all means post up some photos of your new find.

A '69T with a non-matching engine is pretty low on the collectibility list for an early 911 so don't bother looking for a 2.0L T case. It is not possible to have the Factory restamp a blank case, they haven't done this in many, many years for a car of this age.

You would be better off spending resources on the interior and the suspension, if it has not been redone, to go along with your 2.7L engine. The search function will be your friend as you look around the site for information about what can be done to your 911. Enjoy.

..Just returned home from Scotland....before I left I bought the car, got it home and called a few friends to come over to have a look. One of my buddies is a vintage Ferrari guy never owned a 911 and he wanted buy my new 'find'...He offered $29,000.00 and I took it....The 29K will be a nice cash infusion for my '73 RS basket case that I bought in 1985..might have it finished in a year...but I doubt it....

Yea, no kiddin'...I should go into the used car business!...even made a few bucks today with my POT put...about the RS..it's buried in my garage...way back there behind all sorts of stuff...this weekend I'm going to clear a path to it!.....It's in bad shape..it had a right fender collision which pushed the fender into the door, tweaked the hood and the hood latch panel...also the doors don't fit well....in the beginning I thought it would be a fun project, but I must admit I don't have the skills to do all of the panel work..
