I had a 3.2 in our '73 Targa. I went with a Steve Wong chip, SSI's and sport muffler.

With my 3.2 Motronic, Wong chip, sport cams, bigger throttle body, SSI's....
I went with an M&K GT3 style muffler, and was very happy with it.
Not too loud, but when you got on it....sounded great!
Seemed to make good power as well (important I know).

If you could find one of those Dansk single outlet sport exhausts....that would be a great option as well.

i would trim the flashing of the f glass on the bumper

add 993 heat exchangers w/ flipped flanges

and a sport muffler conversion on a stock 73 muffler ( new, or used perhaps) to fit the 993 heat x-changers

    reprogram the chip

and change the mirrors to '72-73 (smaller) [looks like you have the '74-76 mirrors]

glad i could help you spend a few hundred $!

    Just installed a 1989 3.2 in my 72.

    Went with:
    964 cams
    Bursch headers
Dansk 2 in 2 out sport muffler
Steve Wong chip dialed in for 93 octane.

Great combo, lots of power / torque,
    super happy right now!

strongly recommend that you sample others' set ups before you commit. Consider that driving a long distance with a overly loud, or droning muffler will tire you out sooner and make your voyage much less enjoyable.
We have had great results with the mk line and ssi's- together with the chip , it frees up as much hp as most would usually need
Ben sells several different versions that might appeal to you
