    Mitty in Atlanta

Spent the weekend at the Mitty. Did not ake many pics but saw these two beauties in the parking lot. The 67S was very nice and was for sale. The 65 was a very early one and had an Abarth exhaust. The 901 Shop, Predator Racing and Ecurie out of Wisconsin had some smoking early 911's that were running.

    Mitty - Early 911s

The '65 is one of two that are owned by Tim Baker, who lives outside of Atlanta. He was racing a 356 speedster (red #33). The '65 in the photo was originally a Brumos-delivered car, complete with Kardex, that he bought recently in Maryland and it is spectacular shape. I was running one of the 2.0L 911s out of Ecurie (Blue/Yellow #112). If you are interested in any more info on any of those cars, let me know. There were a lot of very nice early 911s at the Mitty and the compitition in the 2.0L class was great...as usual.

    Lee:

Wished I had met you. Talked a bit to Fritz as I was looking at your cars. I was impressed with the Ecurie cars and the way you guys were smoking on the track. I was parked across the track at Gary Jones Racing where fellow S Registry and RGruppe Doc Jewell was racing his Mustang. I talked to Tim awhile too.

    Bill,
Sorry we didn't connect up at the track. I wish we would have surveyed the forum before the event so I would have known you and others were going to be there. I would have been happy to have you come by transporter and poke around the early 911s under the tent. Well, at least you met up with Fritz, who is a great guy who can get around that circuit pretty well. I was happy to just be in sight of him and get 2nd in the Klubsport race on Friday. Saturday wasn't quite as good when I had a spectacularly smokey oil line failure, dumping a few quarts on to the hot headers during the enduro, and had to shut it down. It was still a great weekend overall and I'll look forward to another visit. If you have any more track shots, I'd love to see them. I'll look you up on the Registry the next time we are going back to Atlanta.

    Lee,
Didn't we meet last year at the Mitty? You sold a 356 that was parked near my truck? I saw your car on the track but never made it over to your trailer. It was a pain having to spend most of the time over on the opposite paddock.

Is Mark still selling his 1969 911S that Ecurie built?

What is Tim asking for the 1965 911?

Are you going to Road America next week? We are taking ~12 cars and staying at Siebkens.

I went by the 901 Shop trailer to see if you may have decided to show up at the last minute. Did I mention that the weather was great?

They separated group 2 and group 3 so you would have had plenty of clear track. Oh, and BTW, you could have sent your car; I would have tested it for you.

Did you hear that they canceled Daytona? They are paving the track. Are you coming to September Road Atlanta?

It always rains when I go to RA. I sent my blue and silver car to see if someone wanted to take it home......

Had not heard about Daytona. That's a shame as its a great track to bring the family with all the activities in the general area.

I have not decided on RA in September, I might. It depends on whether I go to Lime Rock or not.

    How was your racing?

    Doc,

Daytona is cancelled for sure (HSR, PCA, ...) but HSR mentioned racing at Homestead as a support to the IRL races.

That should be fun (and I get to drive home at the end of the day!).
