Detail question - door handles 69 vs 70+

Here is one for the experts...

My 69E came to me with 72/73 (lever) style outer door handles and a door key (big plastic head) and an ignition key (small metal style). I really hate keys and wanted to change to one key for the whole car.

So, I bought some 69 (push) style door handles for the car which take the correct small metal key that I can have cut to suit my original ignition key.

The problem is the 69 door handles came without the rubber/plastic seals that go between the handle and the door. The small one on the end fits fine but the large one from the 72 handle is roundish and doesn't fit with the squarer 69 handles.

Pelican only lists the large 1970+ seal:

    1. Does anyone have a source for the rounder 69 style?

    2. Before I drive myself mad with this. Can anyone confirm that the doors from a 69 are the same as a 72 (I would hate the get the right seal for the handle and find it doesn't suit the door side of things)

    Yours in frustration - Ryan

    Ryan,
I believe all doors are shaped the same. I have fit the early rounded 65-67 style, plastic R handles, and the 68-69 style on my car. The recessed art of the door should be the same. In re: to the door handle seals, I have found it best to clean up and reuse the originals instead of installing new ones due to their poor fit. With that said, I would call a salvage shop for a used set of the square style seals.
