Thread: FS: 1967 Porsche 911 S Soft Window Targa Bahama Yellow 64k Orig. Miles

When this car was being built, Eade really planned on driving it. He did all the big stuff and figured when he got tired of it and was ready to move on, he would finish the 100 pt restoration. In the meantime, he would search out NOS bits and pieces for it and stock pile them until the time came. We both spent about 3 hours last Friday going through the car and trying to imagine what we would have to do to bring it to concours level. Everything was someone superficial. That doesn't mean it was going to be easy, but the car didn't have to come apart. We feel that if this was going to be a 100pt car it would need new door panels, recovered seats, trim pieces (if you can find NOS pieces), and the Targa top redone. The original NOS targa headliner he has (still in the factory parts bag) is awesome. I'm sure Brown in Colorado would love to get his hands on it. Hopefully the next owner of this car will enjoy it and drive it to some events. Maybe not behind a group of R Gruppe cars on Carmel Valley Road, but some kind of cruising.

Well as a student of transactions, this is a seller I would be confident in.

Price, given the posted comparable, I would say the market has held, but is flat over the last three years for top cars.

[QUOTE=Mike Baum;252893 I had to significantly speed up in my Alfa to catch Paul driving the softie.
Hope to see it at cars and coffee on Sat.

In your opinion do you think that was wise on a less than 100 mile engine which needs careful running in?

When Mike saw me, I was putting some miles on the car to help sort things out. Per instruction of engine builder, I didn't go past 5k rpm and didn't do more than 3/4 throttle.

The car is very quick and pulls very strong. We are at about 75 miles so far. Hope to reach 150 by next week. Then, the car is getting flat bedded back to the engine builder for carb tunning and valve adjustments. Also, the engine builder warranties all his work for 12 months or 12k miles.

Dude, relax - It was not all THAT fast: In afternoon traffic on PCH in Corona Del Mar. But it was FUN. Beautiful softie and Alfa Zagato behind.

Paul knows what he is doing. Me, on the other side, that is a different story ...

Careful run in? Once the 2000 RPM cam run in and obligatory oil change are done, the only way, IMHO, to run in a car is to flog it to the bleeding edge of sanity.
