Thread: The 914-6 Takes Shape

  1. #11
I saw it today in the shop. Very clean and looks like it will be a fun, light toy to throw around the canyon roads.

How long has it been since you had your first 914-6, Marco?

I think he just doubled the rate for TLG labor on your car.

Thanks for the support, guys ... even you, Chritian.

Curt - You never got to see my previous 914/6. It was a '73 conversion car that I built (with lots and lots of help and favors) when I was 16 ... drove it until I was 24 and used the proceeds to fund the 911. It was a cool car - 2.2S motor with MFI that I stroked to 2.4L, close ratio gearbox, Carrera front suspension/brakes and 7" Fuchs all the way around. It was a VERY fast and easy to drive car; I memorized the Malibu canyons from the driver's seat.

Tomorrow the 914 gets new wheel bearings, rear flanges, front hubs and loooooong studs.

I also have to prep the Duc for a Streets of Willow trackday on Sunday.

    Have fun.

I want to see knee down around the apex of those twisty curves.

    Steady progress

Now that it's on it's wheels (thanks for the loan, Christian) it's officially "in the way." Better pick up the pace before the Old Man starts hollerin'.

Wow, this car is really coming together quickly, especially considering you were playing with the "Duc" on the weekend. Good work!

I think at this rate your 914-6 will be rolling out of the shop under its own power, ready to turn a few laps around the corkscrew at Laguna Seca this weekend.

Try and make sure to scratch at least a couple of the wheels badly enough to need refinishing OK?

  9. #19
That's what Steel Wool is for- cheap "refinishing".
