Thread: Vred 165's on flat 6 Fuchs?

Vred 165's on flat 6 Fuchs?

I am almost done redoing the underside and rebuilding the front suspension on my 68. I have 6" Flat Fuchs with 195/65s now but need to replace the tires. I'm kind of a period originality geek plus my car originally was delivered with 165 tires so I was thinking of putting the 165 Vred tires on my flat sixers until I can find a full set of 5.5 Fuchs, then do a switcheroo.

Question: how goofy will the 165s look on the flat sixes? Will it work ok as a temporary thing?

It will be pretty darn goofy. Here is a 165/50 on a 6 inch rim.

This "stretching" business is all the rage in certain circles. . . I would be afraid to try it.

I would be surprised if you couldn't flip a set of flat sixes into a set of 5.5's within a week including shipping.

I appreciate you resisting the temptation to put some big meats under there!
